Homemade Face Masks for Dry Skin

There are many causes of dry skin. This may be caused by the food you eat, the environment you are in and your daily skin regiment. If you want to add moisture to your dry skin, you can opt to go organic and natural and create your own homemade facial mask. This is an inexpensive alternative to commercial and chemical products you can buy on your local health and beauty store. With homemade face masks, you know exactly what you are giving your dry skin to nurture it and bring it back to life.

Just remember that you should not leave on your homemade face mask longer than instructed. Else, you will end up with a dryer skin. Use your facial masks as soon as you completed making it. You can only keep your homemade face mask refrigerated for up to a week at a maximum.

To get you started, here are some nice recipes to start with to refresh and add moisture to your dry skin.

Vitamin E is good for your dry skin. Avocado is rich in vitamin E and other natural oils that will act as great moisturizers for your dry skin. Peel and seed a ripe avocado on a processor with 4 tablespoons of unflavoured yogurt. Blend the ingredients until you reach a smooth texture. Apply the mask to your face except for the eye area. Leave on for 10 – 15 minutes then rinse.

Banana and yogurt homemade face mask

Yogurt is a common ingredient in most facial mask because it can soften your skin. It can also hydrate dry skin. To do this facial mask, get half a banana and place it in a bowl. Mash the banana and add 4 tablespoons of plain yogurt. Stir well until you get a smooth consistency. Apply to your face and leave on for 10 – 15 minutes. Rinse with water. This is also a good mask to exfoliate your skin and remove dead skin cells.
